Liver-Loving Tea

Help your liver perform its myriad of functions with these supportive herbs:

  • 2 parts catnip herb
  • 2 parts dandelion root
  • 1 part burdock root
  • 1 part fennel seed

Bring the water to a boil. Add the dandelion and burdock root, cover and simmer for twenty minutes. Remove from heat and add the remaining herbs. Cover and let steep for ten minutes. Strain.

"I Got the PMS Blues" Tea

When your emotions are down, savor a cup of this sweet, uplifting, aromatic herbal tea.

  • 1 quart water
  • ½ tsp burdock root
  • 1 tsp dandelion root
  • 1 tsp basil herb
  • 1 tsp fennel seed
  • 1 tsp nettle leaf

Bring the water to a boil. Add the burdock and dandelion root, cover, and simmer for twenty minutes. Remove from heat and add the remaining herbs. Cover and let steep for ten minutes. Strain. Store in the refrigerator. Drink 1 quart daily.

Mineral-Rich Tea

These herbs provide the minerals needed for nourishing bones, teeth, hair, and nails

  • 2 parts alfalfa leaf
  • 2 parts dandelion leaf
  • 2 parts nettle leaf
  • 2 parts oat seed and/or oatstraw
  • 2 parts raspberry leaf

Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the herbs. Cover and let steep for ten minutes. Add raw honey or stevia to sweeten.

Iced Nettle Tea

Lemon_2Bring a quart of water to a boil. Put 2 tablespoons of dry nettle leaves into a teapot and cover with the boiling water. Let the tea brew for 3-5 minutes. Strain before cooling. Add more water, lemon, and your favorite sweetener.

Energy Tea

These herbs help you buzz around.

  • 2 parts nettle leaf
  • 2 parts oat seed, herb, and/or oatstraw
  • 2 parts yerba mate leaf
  • 1 part green tea leaf
  • 1 part hawthorn leaf and flower
  • 1/2 part licorice root

Love Tonic Smoothie

Start your day with a toast to love.  This smoothie is a real energy booster and in rich in calcium.

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (vegans can use almond milk)
  • 1 peeled ripe mango
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp bee pollen
  • 1/4 tsp cardomom powder

Combine all the ingredients in a blender.  Blend and enjoy.  Makes 2 servings.

Peak Energy Drink

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 banana
  • ½ cup frozen berries
  • 1 tsp flax seed oil
  • 2 tbsp spirulina powder
  • 2 tbsp ground flax seed

Mix ingredients in a blender until smooth.

Almond Chia Maca Shake

  • Almond_chia_maca_shake_22 Cups Almond Milk 
  • 1 Tbs. Soaked chia or flax seeds
  • 1 Tbs ground flax seeds
  • 1 Tbs. Maca powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Pro-Biotic Powder
  • 1 Tbs Non GMO Soy Lecithin
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. Liquid Stevia or 2 tsp. Agave Nectar
  • (optional) ice cubes for a colder shake

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Stored in a sealed jar, the Almond Chia Maca Shake will last up to 2 days in the fridge.....that is if you don't drink it in one sitting....

Sprout Shake

  • 2 cups sunflower sprouts
  • 1½ cups organic greens; kale, spinach, parsley, dandelion, green cabbage, mixed greens, cilantro
  • 1 carrot or 1 apple
  • ½ avocado
  • ½ lemon juice
  • Pinch of Celtic Salt or Himalayan 

Blend until well blended. Use more dandelion (6 leaves) if you have a chronic liver condition or would just like to detoxify quicker.

C-Green

  • ½ cup parsley
  • ½ cup sunflower sprouts
  • ½ cup spinach
  • ½ watercress
  • 1 apple

Using your juicer process all ingredients.

Celery Booster Juice

  • 1 cup celery
  • 1/3 cup parsley
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ cup sunflower sprouts

Using your juicer process all ingredients.

Greens On The Go

  • 1/3 cup parsley
  • ½ cup celery
  • ½ cup cucumber
  • 1 small piece of root ginger
  • sprig of basil or coriander

Using your juicer process all ingredients.

Spring Clean

  • 1 green apple
  • ½ cup cabbage
  • ½ cup celery
  • ½ cup watercress

Using your juicer process all ingredients.

Green Drink

  • 1 cup kale
  • 1/3 cup parsley
  • ½ cup celery
  • 1 green apple (optional)

Green Calcium Drink

  • ½ cup collard greens or kale
  • ½ cup celery
  • ½ cup watercress
  • ½ cup spinach
  • 1/3 cup cabbage

AM Cucumber Juice

  • 2 cucumbers

Using your juicer process all ingredients.

Hippocrates' Green Juice

  • 1 1/2 cucumbers
  • 3 stocks of celery
  • 4 cups combination of sunflower and pea green sprouts

Feed ingredients through a single or double auger juicer.  Drink within 20 minutes for optimal nutrition.  Other greens that are commonly used to make green juice: kale, swiss chard, parsley, spinach, lettuce and beet and turnip greens.

Makes 2 cups.

Super Green Juice

  • 1/2 cup cucumber
  • 1/2 cup celery
  • 1/2 cup pea greens
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup assorted mung bean sprouts
  • 1/2 cup sprouts
  • 1/2 cup parsley

Blend ingredieSpinach_1nts together and drink immediately.

Holiday Nog

Makes 4 servings.

  • 1/4 cup almonds, soak 8-12 hours, rinse well
  • 1/8 cup Living Harvest Organic Hemp Nuts
  • 1 tbsp Living Harvest Organic Hemp Protein
  • 5 dates, pitted
  • 1/2 vanilla bean pod or 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 4 cups coconut or filtered water

Blend ingredients with 1 cup of water until smooth. Add remaining 3 cups of water, blend and drink.

Master Cleanse

  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/10 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 8 ounces spring water

Mix and drink 8 - 12 glasses throughout the day.  Eat or drink nothing else except water, nettle, chamomille and peppermint tea.  You can take a mild laxative if needed.

Lemon Rooibos Detox Tea

Rooibos tea is high in an array of different antioxidants that may slow aging and help prevent disease. It also contains nine essential minerals, which can help optimize body function during detoxification. Try red rooibos or the unfermented “green” rooibos, which is even more healthful.

  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) maple syrup or raw honey
  • Juice of half a lemon, freshly squeezed
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup (250 mL) rooibos tea, brewed

Stir maple syrup, lemon juice, and cayenne together in a cup. Fill with hot rooibos tea and enjoy first thing in the morning. This recipe is from Sally Errey, RNCP

Warming Winter Good Health Tea

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 slices fresh ginger, cut to the thickness of a quarter - warming, immune enhancer
  • 1 inch piece licorice root - antiviral, antibacterial, fights depression
  • 1/2 inch piece cinnamon stick - warming, digestive support, useful for Diabetes
  • 1 tbsp organic orange rind - sweet
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley - digestive aid
  • 1 tsp dried lemon balm - relaxing, aromatic
  • 1 clove - warming, digestive aid

In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Steep 5 to 15 minutes. Strain and drink twice a day. Makes 4 cups.

Spiced Apple Punch

Greet your guests with the wonderful Christmas aroma of cinnamon, cloves and anise.

  • 4 qt (4 l) natural unfiltered apple cider
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, each 3 inches (8 cm) long
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 pieces star anise
  • 10 juniper berries
  • 2 large apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 large lime, thinly sliced
  • 1 large orange, thinly sliced

Wrap cinnamon, cloves, anise and juniper berries in a cheesecloth and place them in a pot on low heat with apple cider and honey. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the spices, garnish with apple, orange and lime and serve. Makes four quarts (four litres).

Almond Milk

  • 1 cup raw almond, soaked overnight & rinsed
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 dates
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or fresh vanilla pod

Combine in blender and blend. Strain through cheesecloth, squeezing out the milk. This milk will keep for 4 days in the refrigerator. The almond milk you find in stores has been pasteurized, destroying vital nutrients. It takes only a few minutes to make your own.

Alkaline Boosting Drink

A good detox juice! Leafy green vegetables are excellent for an overtaxed liver. Parsley is a mild diuretic and celery helps cleanse the liver and lymph system and aids digestion.

  • 6 oz kale
  • 1 oz parsley
  • 7 oz apples
  • 2 oz celery
  • 4 oz  cucumber
  • small piece of ginger

Juice all ingredients in a juicer and enjoy!

Booster Morning Drink

  • 1 cup almond milk or 1/2 cup of organic kefir or plain yogurt
  • 1 peeled ripe mango
  • 1 tsp raw Manuka honey
  • 1/2 tsp Bee Pollen
  • 1/4 tsp cardomon powder or seeds
  • 2 tbsp fresh ground flax seed

Blend and enjoy!!
