"Food Matters" spends far too much time talking about supplement therapy and only gives token acknowledgement to consistent long-term vegetarian (and especially vegan) lifestyles. Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. John McDougall, John Robbins (of Baskin Robbins lineage) - these are among those who really get the direct connection between a healthy plant-based diet and long-term health.

Promoting optimal health with the absence of degenerative disease should be the goal.

(Talking about supplement therapy after disease has already manifested itself will only be of use to those who, through poor lifestyle, have already contracted disease.)

I believe that the primary focus of truly enlightended films (and societies) must necessarily be that of health promotion through plant-based diets and vigorous, regular exercise. This is the only way to maximize our genetic potential to live to a vigorous 9th or 10th decade - mostly free of disease and disability.
